Vacant Waldoboro church

Here is another example of a church that has closed it's doors. Every time I see one of these former churches it makes me very sad. I am encouraged by the recent movement in Maine. Independent Fundamental Baptist churches are being planted throughout the state and it is very exciting. Seeing pictures like this should stir your soul. What are you doing to help spread the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ? Maybe this old church will again hold old time style meetings where the hymns are sung and the preaching of the Word of God will bring conviction and change lives. Are you prepared for it?

The Lord is moving!

Oh, how I praise the Lord. He is moving in a tremendous way in my life. I had the opportunity to be "Pastor for the day" on January 31. What a thrill it was to be able to teach adult Sunday School and preach on Sunday morning and night. I am so glad that the Lord places such a distinction between preaching (Isaiah 58:1, Jeremiah 1:10) and teaching. The teaching of God's word is a very good thing. We all definitely need good solid Bible teaching. There is something very special about preaching. We need preaching. We need to hear the man of God open up that blessed King James and preach "The Word of God Declares....!" Preaching has authority. When I became serious about serving the Lord he instilled in me a love for preaching. Instead of the wicked "Christian" contemporary music I was listening to, he opened my eyes and my heart to the preaching of the word of God. The Lord placed me in a church where the preaching of that old King James Bible is the #1 ministry. When someone asks me about Church Hill Baptist, the first thing I tell them about is the preaching. Yes, I love the music ministry where the good old hymns of the faith are played and sung with passion. Yes, I have a deep love for all of my church family. But it is the preaching that is the greatest thing about Church Hill Baptist. Having the opportunity to listen to great preaching is a precious gift from the Lord. Being called to preach the blessed Word of God is beyond my wildest dreams. Like my previous post "I'd rather have Jesus" than anything this world offers.
Yes, the Lord is moving in my life. I just can't wait for what is to come.

I'd Rather Have Jesus

Many of today's "churches" have abandoned the classic hymns of the faith for new, generic songs that just say the same 11 words 7 times in a row. I praise the Lord that Church Hill Baptist is a church where the old-time hymns are still sang with passion. One of my favorite hymns is the song "I'd Rather Have Jesus". It was written in 1922 by Rhea Miller.

I'd rather have Jesus than silver or gold, I'd rather be His than have riches untold; I'd rather have Jesus than houses or lands, I'd rather be led by His nail-pierced hand.

Than to be the king of a vast domain And be held in sin's dread sway; I'd rather have Jesus than anything this World affords today.

I'd rather have Jesus than men's applause, I'd rather be faithful to His dear cause; I'd rather have Jesus than worldwide fame, I'd rather be true to His holy name.

Than to be the king of a vast domain And be held in sin's dread sway; I'd rather have Jesus than anything this World affords today.

He's fairer than lilies of rarest bloom, He's sweeter than honey from out the comb; He's all that my hungering spirit needs, I'd rather be His and let Him lead.

Than to be the king of a vast domain And be held in sin's dread sway; I'd rather have Jesus than anything this World affords today.

Amen!

What is your vision for 2010?

Proverbs 29:18 "Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepeth the Law, happy is he."

We all know that it is Biblical to have a vision. This is a good concept that applies in so many ways. In order to be successful in any undertaking, one must have a vision. If we don't know what the destination is, how will we get anywhere? If we don't know what the goal is, how will we ever measure success? This applies in all areas of life. Every company, big or small, has a vision. Often times success hinges on that vision itself. Sometimes the vision is just too big and broad to truly be useful. For example "Sales will be through the roof". What can you get from that statement? What defines "through the roof". Is that more sales than last year? What will define success? Your vision must be clear. It also should be simple. I listened to a sermon preached by Pastor Todd Bell on Habakkuk 2:2. "And the LORD answered me and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it." You should make the vision "plain" or simple. Don't make some convoluted vision that would take a PHD to understand. Simple.
What goals do you have for 2010? How many people will you witness to this year? This month? This week? How will you serve the Lord this year? How will you be a blessing to others in your church body this year?
We are now 7 days into the new year. It is time to "write the vision".

Are you the man for Edgecomb, Maine?

This old church is located on route 1 in Edgecomb, Maine. It has not been a church for quite a few years now. It is for sale as prime real estate on route 1. What a shame to see this church being peddled for business purposes. There is also another church building (the former Edgecomb Baptist Church) on route 27. Edgecomb needs a man of God preaching right out of the good old King James Bible! Are you that man? Just a note, the building behind the church is a kingdom hall of Jehovah's witnesses. (A.K.A False witnesses). Edgecomb needs Baptist knuckles on every door. Are you the man that God will use to make that happen?

Are you the man?

These images break my heart. The town of Pittston, Maine has no gospel witness. Here sits another old church that is now something other than a house of God. Unfortunately we have so many old churches in Maine that are now antique shops. Let's change this!!! We need a man to preach the gospel in Pittston, Maine. Are you that man? Every town needs an independent fundamental Baptist church! Every town!

Are you the man?

This building is located on route 27 in Dresden, Maine. When I see this I wonder what kind of a church this was? Was there thundering preaching coming from this pulpit? Dresden does not have a Bible-preaching Independent Fundamental Baptist Church. Are you the man God is calling to preach the gospel in Dresden? Dresden needs a Man of God that will open up the good old King James Bible and preach "Thus saith the Lord!" Oh that the Word of God will once again echo through this grand old church building.....
